2014-Here We Come

Words of the Year

I have never thought to much about it or come up with one, let alone even contemplated the impact of coming up with a Word of the Year would do for my life. A few months ago, well probably a year ago now, I heard and read on another blog about picking a Word of the Year, instead of setting up New Years Resolutions to change.  Picking a word, finding and praying for a word that moves you or a word that you would like to "see" in your life, I thought why not. I thought, how hard could it be? Everyone seems to really gain a life lesson at the end of the year by the word they chose at the beginning of the year.
For days I prayed about it. I asked God to give me a word, something that would mean something to me personally. Not just a word.    He gave me two!

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that either, but I am okay with it. I prayed that God would move in my life, and help me pick a word that He knows would best fit my life in 2014.    He did... and my word is: Renew.

He didn't just stop there though. I had been praying for my family, for my husband, and for our home life. I recently left my job and had no back up plan, no alternative; and yet I was at peace. Let me emphasize...I was at peace; not my hubby. Again, I had prayed and asked God to help our family be at peace and to help provide for our family. Help them to see and feel the way I felt. God is in control. He will take care of us. His response...Learn to TRUST me.  So our family (mostly couples) word: TRUST.

I had been asking God to help me be an example of a Christ-like woman and mother to my children. A Christ-like woman for my husband. A Christ-like example to others around me.  This year...I have a feeling our family life is going to be dynamically change...for the good. I am so excited to see what God has in store for my group here. In the process, I normally don't blog. I love to write...I love to type (it's faster than writing by hand)...I love to talk and express myself. But the whole blogging thing is for people who have great grammar...bake and cook great recipes...have devotionals (that I read and use for inspiration)...and seem to have it all together...very artsy and creative. My blog, well, I started it a few years ago to get the word out about a small business I have, and as you can see I have been bad about keeping up with it.
I have been praying that I would have a commitment to God to write down my blessings, to start to see changes in my life and my family life. But I just don't have time to physically write sometimes, yet I am always on the computer. So it dawned on my...why not just type it out. I had a blog already. Two in fact. Why not? Will anyone ever read it? I don't know. Yes, my mom. If she ever knew it existed that is. But that's alright. I know she will be going through this journey with me, even if she doesn't know it. My idea was simple. To have a way to go back and see where I have come from over the past year. To share with others...if ever anyone was to ever find this and may need encouragement.

I don't have the best writing style. I don't do things perfectly (far from it). But what I do know, is God will mold me and make me into what He wants me to be this year. This is my journey!

Welcome to Blessed Are The Hands

Welcome, thank you for stopping in to see my blog.  I am so excited to start a blog for my home-based company.  Blessed are the Hands is a home-based business that I started in order to make life easier for my family and friends by making foods and goodies for their parties or events. I love baking and so I truly enjoy making goodies for others and experimenting with different baking ideas and techniques. I am a stay at home mom of two young boys so I have very simple ideas, simple recipes, and home-made goodness all wrapped up for you or your party.

The name Blessed are the Hands came from my great grandfather who prayed that the hands that prepare the food would be blessed, so I found it only appropriate to name my company after such strong words.  I want my business to blessed and bless others with my family's ability to use our hands for the glory of God and make others happy.    My husband also loves to cook, can, and grill  so as he makes unique different dishes I will be posting those for you as well.  As time goes you will notice I will post my different foods, but I also will be posting information and recipes from others that I find and want to try.  Feel free to share the joy of baking and other ideas and concepts.
